As we all do when we were kids, until we are already grown-ups, when we feel sick, we sometimes tend to call our moms to console us and give us some home remedies. But how do you know which home remedies will work? Here are treatments that have been found to be effective by scientific experts and as well as by people like you and me.

For Colds – Chicken Soup. Doctors have long believed that drinking any hot liquid eases cold symptoms, but research has proved that hot chicken soup is one-of-a-kind beneficial.

For Sore Throat – Salty Gargle. Liquids soothe a scratchy throat and help wash phlegm away. Gargle four to five times a day with a solution of a half to one teaspoon of salt and one cup of warm water.

For Hangovers – Water. Drink a tall glass of water after every alcohol drink and another glass of water before going to bed. This helps slow down alcohol consumption. It also helps replace lost body fluids and prevent dehydration.

For Insomnia – Hot bath. A nice hot bath before you go to bed can help improve your sleeping. Research says a hot bath raises your body temperature, afterward your body will cool down, which actually may be associated with deeper slumber.

For Nausea – Ginger. Drinking a cup of ginger tea before going a trip may help you relieve nausea. To make the tea, take a piece of fresh ginger about the size of your knuckle. Skin and dice it, and put it in a mug with a bit of sugar. Pour boiling water and wait for five minutes to cool and drink it then.

For Itchy Skin – Oatmeal or baking soda. Soaking in an oatmeal bath can soothe you from skin irritations like insect bites and sunburn. Baking soda can also calm the hurt caused by bee stings, as well as skin rashes. To soothe a bee sting, make a paste out of baking soda and water and apply it to skin.

See? There are only few of the many home remedies you can actually apply at home. So you may end your worries and you do not have to rush yourself to the nearest clinic or hospital.
